Good rock for the drainage swale, dusty load
Nebraska Rock Supply's yard loaded six tons for a swale we built behind a new build near the river to carry runoff away from the foundation. Rock itself is exactly the right size for that kind of work, sits heavy and doesn't shift once it's placed. Only complaint was how much dust came off the load when it dumped, more than we expected from rock this size. Swale has handled every storm since without erosion.

Good size rock, a few pieces oversized

Nice border stone around the farm pond
Used four tons to border the edge of the stock pond where the bank kept slumping into the water. Stacked the bigger pieces two deep along the worst stretch with a little help from my son in law. Bank has held through spring runoff and the cattle walking down to drink haven't torn it up at all.

Kept the ditch from washing out again
Water pours off the field tile outlet behind the machine shed every time we get a hard rain, and it had cut a channel three feet deep before we finally did something about it. Nebraska Rock Supply brought out nine tons of the large river rock and we built it up around the outfall and down the swale toward the ditch. Took most of a Saturday with two of us and the tractor bucket to set the bigger pieces where the water hits hardest. A full growing season of storms later, including one that dumped almost three inches in an hour, and the ground underneath hasn't moved at all.
